Start on your Biophilic Education (BE) journey with an intro to PBL and SEL teacher training.
Service Description
In this 18 hour course (12 x 90 minute sessions), get an introduction to PBL and SEL by Zach Reznichek, curriculum writer and co-founder of BE All and DVLS. Work through the Personal Exploration Project (PEP) and explore the basics of the Da Vinci Life Skills assessment method. This mandatory initial course in BE Mentorship (no teaching required) explores three aspects: philosophical purpose (the why), tasks and roles (the what) and practical methodology (the how). A bit of each is explored every session during the course. THE WHY: (6 hours) The problems with the current education system and talk to parents about it - 30 mins An overview of Biophilic Education solutions - 1h Introductions, intentions & teaching technology/apps - 30 mins Biophilic Education: Equally developing academic, physical, social/emotional and creative/intuitive knowledge and skills - 1h A sustainable, ethical and inclusive approach to learning - 1h Academic research in neuroscience and education - 30 mins An overview of the DVLS curriculum and transdisciplinary, contextual projects with BE Time and Skill-ups - 30 mins Course reflection and feedback - 1h THE WHAT: (6 hours) The top traits of a BE Mentor - 1h Start your own Personal Exploration Project (PEP), learn by doing - 5h Set your goals, define obstacles, make a strategy DVLS 9 Skill Spiral (core skills) basics 27 sub skills basics Revisit each session to understand the PEP build THE HOW: (6 hours) Introduction to mentoring the Personal Exploration Project (PEP) - 4h Modelled through doing Best practices Discuss approaches that fit your learners DVLS Assessment method - 2h WWW & EBIs Life Skills radar constellation chart basics Portfolio capture basics Adapting to other curricula approaches Upon successful completion of the course, trainees will be prepped to take the Level 1 BE Mentor Certificate Program which enables them to teach the DVLS Curriculum in schools and hubs.
